Daycare, boarding, and training

When you get a dog, you hope for a best friend for life who is a well-mannered addition to your family. This requires that you learn how to communicate with your dog effectively. Each dog is an individual, as is each person, and all have unique learning styles. Obedience training brings you together to ensure that you reach your goals with your dog – be they to live in harmony with your young children, to hike mountains with you, or to simply join you at your local coffee shop and other social settings. At Lucky Paw Lodge, we can make those goals a reality!

Here at Lucky Paw, we are balanced trainers. This is important to note, as we believe in rewarding the behavior that we want to continue to see with positive reinforcement using high value food rewards, toys, praise, and affection. We also believe in correcting behavior that is unwanted using the least invasive yet most effective methods. Our trainers work diligently to educate families about the proper use of tools to ensure the utmost safety of every individual dog, while also achieving each family’s goals.

Training Evaluations

Prior to starting any training at Lucky Paw, you and your dog must have a meeting and behavioral evaluation with our Head Trainer. During this one-hour session, the trainer will ask about your goals for your lifestyle and relationship with your dog. She will also evaluate your dog’s temperament to determine its energy level, reactivity to noises, people, and other dogs. You will be given a tour of our facility. Finally, you will come up with a comprehensive training plan together for you and your dog.

There is a $35 fee for a training consultation paid at the time of the visit.

Train & Play

This is a great option to combine obedience training and/or problem solving with socializing your dog! You will meet one-on-one with our Certified Dog Trainer to discuss your training goals and come up with an individualized training plan for your dog and family. Then, when your dog comes to The Lodge for a half or full day of daycare, he or she will also receive a full hour of private training! It is a great way to ensure that your dog is receiving exactly the training you want around tons of distractions, including other dogs, people coming in and out, cars, loud noises, etc. Your dog will also spend supervised time learning to play appropriately with members of our well-mannered daycare pack. Your trainer will keep you posted on your dog’s progress after every session, and after approximately 5-10 Train & Play lessons, you will have another meeting in which you’ll take the leash and begin to enjoy a more well-mannered pup!

There is an additional cost for training on top of the Daycare fee.

Problem Solving & Behavior Modification

Are you dealing with jumping, nipping, escaping, barking, chewing, leash pulling, separation anxiety, or even more serious aggression? Our trainers and owners have extensive experience working with dogs of all breeds, ages, and sizes with a variety of behavioral challenges. We know just what to do to get you and your dog through the toughest issues to lessen your frustration, strengthen your bond, and even save your relationship.
